In total, I have invested 1239 Euros in my smartphones and I've used them for 3610 days (119 months or 9.9 years). Overall, this means that I had to pay 10.44 Euros per month of smartphone usage. Just for the hardware. A new top-of-the-range smartphone for 750€ (like the new [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_4][Pixel 4]]) needs to be used for 71 months which means six years in order to keep the average price per month at the same level. This is unrealisic in my opinion. I guess that modern smartphones do have a tendency to be replaced in less than 2½ years on average. Certainly less than six years. Therefore, the price per smartphone per month is going to rise for me, when I'd buy an up-to-date high-end device. In order to keep these numbers to a sane level, I may be looking for used top-model devices, eight to twelve months old - in case there is a good market for these devices. Or [[id:2019-07-09-hire-me][my future employer]] co-funds a new smartphone I may use for business as well as private purpose.
