Mediocrity

It is okay when you are annoyed about the mediocrity and indifference of people. This is a clear sign that you are trying to do your work better than average.

Humankind (hopefully) will not be extinguished by it's own bombs. The main reasons for our demise will be mediocrity and indifference.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as «make it unseen» for any kind of decent specialization.

For example when your eyes are trained for good typography, you see really bad documents all over the place. And everybody else does not seem to care. Or when you are constantly looking for optimizations in your personal workflows, watching most people interact with their computer tends to hurt a little bit here or there.

I do think that I have learned to maintain a minimum level of indifference myself in order to cope with «others people style of doing things». However, it still troubles me big time when I am forced to use less elegant tools or workflows to meet my peer's level of expertise when working as a team.

These lines might sound rather self-opinionated but I honestly do not want to upset anyone here.

Do you feel the same? Any other good examples? Drop me a line, submit a comment: I am very curious what you think about it ...
