[[http://suderei.supersized.org/index.php?url=archives/130-GTD-Task-management-with-Android-software-apps.html][My first blog entry]] summarized my requirements and my still up to date GTD solution (Palm + JPilot). This time, I tried [[https://i.doit.im/][Doit.im]] which I skipped in my first test. [[http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-O8LEKakW84/TIkHyp_br7I/AAAAAAAAAEg/vNEYBMb42jg/S45/logo%2B128.png""]] Doit.im provides a neat web-based interface which syncs to a neat Android app. Both require an existing account at Doit.im. Here is a short summary of my findings. *** The web interface The Android-software needs an account at the web platform and therefore I tested the web interface first. - entering tasks is fairly easy - Projects can be defined - task assigning to projects with drag and drop - only one context tag per task! - no manual ordering of tasks - no subtasks! - tasks can repeat - tasks can have an alarm - no sequence can be defined - no auto-next - tasks can be tagged - no undo of "marking a task done" - basic support for tags - good support for tag-based-views *** The Android software I tested the current version 2.2.6 of Doit.im which I found in the Android Market. - easy manual sync with the online version - cool visual design elements - not great but easy input of tasks - no sync-interval setting - no tag-based views! - confirm-button always pretty far down the screen; back does not save/confirm - needs own dialog to define tags (other than web interface) - Android-defined tags get lost after syncing! - Web-defined tags are not always shown in Android-app! *** Summary No solution for me. Mainly because of the missing sub-tasks, no manual ordering or defining sequences, sync-issues of tags and missing tag-based-views in the Android app. Who's next? ;-) [[http://www.Karl-Voit.at/temp/suderei/2010-11-03-doit.png"]] ------------------------- Note: this blog entry was originally authored using [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serendipity_%28software%29][Serendipity]] and converted to Org-mode format for publicvoit via a dumb script.
