When Downloading Your Twitter Archive Won't Work and How to Fix It

Show Sidebar

I like to download my Twitter archive from time to time and generate Org-mode files in order to get my tweets into my calendar.

You can do this either via Memacs which requires to give Twitter your personal phone number.

@flowolf Looks great. Won't be used by me because I don't want to give @Twitter my phone number: https://t.co/DBXrBcYhmg

Instead, I wrote a short Python script to convert the Twitter archive download into an Org-mode file: twitter-json_to_orgmode.

A couple years ago, this stopped working. When I requested the archive, I never got the email containing the download URL. Twitter support did not react and I could not find peers who had the same issue.

Then mika gave a very good hint:

Change your mail address (and optionally change it back), should work then since it triggers validating your mail address

So I changed my email address and now the emails containing the download URL of my data export works again.
