The Internet of Things (or short: IoT) is the phase of the Internet where physical devices are connected to the Internet, collecting and exchanging data without our direct involvement.

«Smart» light bulbs are prone to be infected by malware, turning the bulbs into contagious devices. «Smart» Bluetooth-door-locks give away their passwords in cleartext. Even more about insecure smart locks on 33C3. Experts are seriously worried about attacks on whole smart cities. And this is not some theoretical stuff: University attacked by its own vending machines, smart light bulbs and 5,000 IoT devices.

In short: these days, «smart» is a synonym for insecure. Please remember that.
